Antworks

Antworks originated from a 2003 NASA Space Shuttle experiment to study insects in space. It is a unique self-contained environment for ants, initially a test to see how ants successfully tunnel in microgravity.

Now available to the general public, this artificial habitat comes complete with nutrient gel, magnifying glass, ant catching/tunnel starter tool, instructions, and factsheet about ants. Ants are easy to care for and as Antworks are enclosed eco-systems, they need no water or food. .

Antworks comes with a voucher to redeem for your ants - ants are not included (although you could borrow some from your garden). You can enjoy hours of fascinating fun and learn all about ant behaviour as you watch your Antworks evolve. The ants will farm the gel substance creating tunnels and hills through their gel environment.

Choose from the illuminated Antworks with either green or blue gel, or the non-illuminated Space Ants.
